Can I arrive early to my embarkation location for personal travel?
Crew Members are allowed to travel to their embarkation location up to one turn (maximum of 7 days) prior to embark. This means that the allowable amount of time to come in early will vary based on ship itinerary. *Visa and nationality restrictions may apply. -
Can I join the ship from a different location than my home airport?
Crew Members are allowed to request an alternative location for their flight to join the vessel. The price from this location must be equal to or less than the flight from their home airport. The Crew member can indicate if they are willing to pay the difference by providing a dollar amount when submitting the request. -
Can I remain in my debark location and fly home at a later time? Can I fly home from a different location?
Crew Members debarking in the United States may be permitted to request to fly out on the date of their choice if they debark in a Guest status. Based on citizenship, this would require debarking on a B1/B2 visa or ESTA status. Crew may also choose to fly home from one of the following airport hub cities:- United States: Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, Newark, New York, Orlando, San Francisco, Washington D.C.
Outside the USA, Crew who are eligible to remain in the country as a tourist and do not require a visa may request to fly home at a later time. These crew will have the option to remain in the debark location or fly from an airport hub city in the same region:- European Union: Amsterdam, Barcelona, Frankfurt, Madrid, Milan, Munich, Paris, Rome
- United Kingdom: London, Manchester
- Australia: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane
*Visa and nationality restrictions may apply. -
May I make a request for a specific repatriation flight time upon debark due to safety concerns in my home country?
All Crew Members may notate in their travel profile a desire to arrive at home by a designated time for their debark flight. However, these requests cannot be guaranteed and are subject to the available flight options at time of booking. Due to United States Customs and Border Protection policy, debarking Crew must fly home same day unless there are absolutely no flight options available. -
If I have dual residency or citizenship in a country different than that of my primary residence, may I request to repatriate home to my secondary country?
Crew Members holding dual residency or citizenship may elect to choose an alternative home airport in their secondary country through the travel request process. Proof of residency or citizenship must be submitted with the request. The price to this location must be equal to or less than the flight from their primary home airport. The Crew Member can indicate if they are willing to pay the difference by providing a dollar amount on their Crew travel request form. -
Why does my flight itinerary/reservation not have a seat assignment?
Seat assignment policies vary from airline to airline. DCL can only pre-reserve a seat assignment if the airline allows this at no charge. In most cases, Crew Members can complete the check-in process with the airline 24 to 72 hours prior to their flight and select a seat at this time. If a Crew Member decides to purchase a seat assignment or extra legroom seat in advance, they are doing so at their own expense, and this expense will not be reimbursed if there is a change in contract date. -
What determines the number of paid travel days included in a Crew Member's contract?
Per DCL policy, all Crew Members receive 1 paid travel day for their repatriation and return travel. Crew Members from the Philippines receive either 1 or 2 paid travel days based on the location they are traveling to or from; this is a specific in-country requirement regulated by the Philippine government's Department of Migrant Workers (formerly POEA).
